The Yoga Room Logo

This logo was created for The Yoga Room with the help of its owner, Zelinda Yanez. She hoped that the logo could reference the henna art of India, also known as Mehndi design.

The Yoga Room is located in a suburban neighborhood, so we made sure that the logo would appeal to people who are not familiar with Indian traditions, and also to people who are. Zelinda felt that the bright colors would be eye-catching enough, and the modern design of the paisley would be friendly enough to attract the diverse clientele that she caters to.

This logo and business cards are for Megan Summerville, the same designer who is responsible for Sew Sister, and whose business cards I designed and can be seen here.

Megan saw this logo as something that should be playfully curious, while fulfilling some men’s need to think of underwear as something that is fresh. We wanted to create a clean logo that incorporated her idea of an uncommon punctuation mark.

When I presented the upside-down, Spanish-inspired mark, Megan was excited about appealing to men in Austin who are comfortable with cross-cultural references.

As with the Sew Sister business cards, Megan appears at various events where she provides free fittings and wanted to use these cards to write her clients’ measurements on the card. These business cards also double as hang tags for her retail store.

Sew Sister Logo and Business Card

Megan is an amazing business owner who also holds the title for Texas’ Next Top Designer of 2009. She needed a business card that would allow her customers to instantly recognize her name and identify her specialty. This card uses a highly-stylized format in a memorable shape that presents her business in an unforgettable way.

The card serves a number of needs. It has a place for Megan to write customers’ measurements, which is one of the free services she provides to women. The business card also doubles as a hang tag, and the blank spaces are then used as the place for Megan to write the measurements of the item.

Black Sheep Lodge Branding by Decoder Ring Design Concern

The cohesiveness of this brand by Decoder Ring Design Concern makes Black Sheep Lodge a total experience. The subtle reference to sports wear/family crests within the brand elements lets patrons know that they’ll be able to watch a football (errr, futbol) game inside.

You’ll never catch me singing anything but praise when I’m singing about The Decoder Ring Design Concern, and this identity is no exception.
